COLIN’S JOURNEY

From: Coto de Caza, California

Age: 19

Colin Queen is one of the brightest talents to emerge from the US in recent times, and will embark on a full campaign in the UK’s notoriously competitive GB3 Championship with renowned single seater team Fortec Motorsport in 2024.

The 19-year-old has been racing for almost a decade, with plenty of success. In 2023, he competed in GB4 (F4) with an impressive 10 podiums, 2 pole positions, 2 track records and finishing in the top 5 in 80% of the season. His consistent, front-running performances in 2022 caught the attention of MSV, promoter of GB4, and at the end of 2022, Queen was evaluated and chosen over two other promising talents to win a £20,000 scholarship towards his 2023 plans. His 2022 results are impressive. 5 wins, 17 podiums, and 2 track records in both the UK’s ultra competitive BRSCC National and United Formula Ford Championships. He is the first American to win the coveted Scottish David Leslie Trophy in Knockhill, Jim Walsh Trophy for the Champion of Silverstone and the Triple Crown Championship (Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park) for the BRSCC..

That paved the way for the California native to join Fortec, a team with an established history of helping young drivers through the single seater ladder. A glance at their Hall of Fame throws up names including Charles Leclerc, Daniel Ricciardo, Juan-Pablo Montoya, Heikki Kovalainen and Indy 500 winner Marcus Ericcson.

GB3 will be Colin’s toughest challenge to-date, not least because of the step up to a F3 single seater. Testing pace has been promising, and everything looks positive ahead of the season opener at Oulton Park in March.

Colin has been paving the way for others born with the number one birth defect in the world, CHD (Congenital Heart Defects), and is the only driver of his kind racing at the highest level of motorsport. As an Ambassador for the world-renowned Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, Queen provides support, fundraising and awareness for the amazing care the hospital provides. Colin does not let his obstacles set him back in pursuit of his dream to one day race in IndyCar.

Colin is an accomplished driver and advocate for those affected by CHD. One in one hundred babies are born with some type of CHD, but it is a patient population that is grossly underfunded and unrecognized. Colin has endured three open heart surgeries by the young age of three, along with many other procedures. Colin has bucked the odds and proven it will never slow him down, both on and off the track. Facing adversity head on every day, Colin understands how precious life is and is driven to show others that through self-discipline, hard work and dedication anything is possible. "I'm proof!"

Colin’s success in motorsports stems back to his start in karting at age seven. He has competed in the USA, Italy, Belgium, France and UK with SKUSA, LAKC, USPKS, WSK, and FIA. Accomplishments include World Karting Association Grand National Champion, 2x Junior LAKC Champion, Member Team USA Rok Cup and Team USA FIA Academy Trophy.
